Nettle (Urtica Dioica)
Urtica dioica comes from the Latin word uro, which means “to burn,” because its leaves can cause a temporary burning sensation upon contact. Once dried or cooked, however, it loses its sting. Nettle has been traditionally used as a cleansing, detoxifying Herb. It's also been used for those struggling with arthritis, urinary tract infections, hay fever, and anemia. Clinical trials also supports the roots use in treating an enlarged prostate. In ancient Greece, it was commonly used as a diuretic and to help with joint pain. It can still be seen in many recipes in Southeastern Europe today, like Nettle Spanakopita in Greece . We sell Nettle Tincture and its dried leaves, which can be used for tea! You can also pick it fresh during our U-pick season!
